Report AAPM TG 158 “Measurement and calculation of doses outside the treated volume from external-beam radiation therapy”
Report AAPM Task Group 158 “Measurement and calculation of doses outside the treated volume from external-beam radiation therapy” is available online. It is an important document developed to provide guidance for physicists in terms of assessing and managing non-target radiation (< 3 Gy or <5% of prescription dose) in radiation therapy. The document highlights the major concerns of non-target dose in radiotherapy (with reference also to brachytherapy), and it provides recommendations for clinical and research practice aiming at minimizing these doses which offer no therapeutic benefit.
